This craft is writing alphabets from ropes. It is an innovative method for creating signs, greetings for your party and other celebrations. It is very easy to use and has a visible impact.
What you’ll need:
- Rope (1/2 inch and 2 yards)
- Nails or long tacks
- Foam board or thick cardboard to nail the rope down whilst pasting
- PVA white wood glue
Instructions:
Start by setting up an area because you will need to pin or nail the rope into a place for a couple of days till it dries up. We used thick foam carpet block but you can use any thick polystyrene or cardboard. Make sure that the surface of the cardboard is smooth so while peeling off the rope it shouldn’t lose colour once it dries. You can also put wax paper or plastic to cover the cardboard.
Add a few tablespoons of water to the PVA white glue to make it smooth and easier to work deep into the rope threads. After designing the letters (alphabets), dip the rope into the glue.
After it is completely soaked, nail it to the cardboard and carry on with the next letters. Keep on doing it until your word is finished. Add extra nails at joints to keep them connected.
Once the word/letter gets completed add another layer of glue with the help of a brush, make sure all the joints are covered. Do it 2-3 times allowing it to dry in between after each coat.
Now, when it’s all dried up on top, take it off of the cardboard and flip it over to get the air to the other side. It can take up to 2-3 days to get the rope as hard as needed.
This one was used for a Cowgirl Party and it really looks pretty good.
