This one is a step-wise tutorial to help you make a weighted blanket. It has mentioned all the supplies and requirements in the start. You must keep in mind that the blanket should only be 10% of body weight + 1 pound. If the blanket is heavier than this, it will be difficult to use it. Start with two layers of cloth of the required dimensions (preferably mink or fleece). Now sew its three sides using a sewing machine. Now sew the columns. Pour the pellets inside the columns and keep a measuring cup while pouring so that you do not happen to add more than required pellets. Use pins to mark the rows. Now sew the rows. This will form the pockets in the blanket. Make sure the pellets have not shifted from their position. The difficult part is to manage the number of pellets in every pocket. Do not have a sewing machine but still want to try this, do not worry we have solution. We are going to use zip-lock bags and rice to make this no-sew weighted blanket. First of all divide the amount of rice to be used in the zip-lock bags. This will give us an idea of the dimensions. You can also go otherwise, first deciding the dimensions and then filling in the rice in each of them. Once you have laid all the filled zip-lock backs, start taping them in rows. Cover all the bags in tape slowly and steadily. Once all the area is covered in tape, sew or buy a fabric cover for your blanket. The only downside of this blanket is that it is not very much flexible. If you still want to keep it flexible, try to sew them onto a cloth using a needle and use less of the taping material. Let us try a new method. In this method take an outer cover and sew long channels in it. In the video 10×3 pockets have been made. Now make 1inch square pockets using fleece material. Fill in the poly pellets inside these fleece pockets. Now push these pockets inside the columns sewn into the blanket cover.
