DIY wall banner for your home

Bored with those Bland walls at your home or planning a party, the best way to jazz up your home is by putting stylish, cute banners. They are versatile easy to make and look very pretty. I personally have seen DIY ones prettier than the ones found in the market. Do try some of my favourite ones down below:

1. Wall Banner with quotes

Things you need:

  • 75 x 65 cm of hessian fabric
  • Felt In Various Colours
  • Fabric glue
  • Scissors
  • Stick
  • String

Procedure:

  • Cut the hessian fabric to the size you want the banner to be making sure to include 5 cms over to fold.
  • Fold out the bottom edges of the banner together to form triangular points and paste them using Fabric Glue.
  • Fold banner from the top to make fold to put the stick in by securing the edge with glue.
  • Print out letters act as stencil to cut out them from felt to from felt letters. Glue theses felt letters into place on the banner.
  • Now pass the stick through the hole and tie strings either side to hang the banner from after the letters have dried on the banner. The banner is now ready to make your home shine.

2. Photo Wall Banner

Things You Need:

  • Yarn
  • Small clothes hangers
  • Paint Brush
  • Photographs
  • Acrylic paint
  • Tape and scissors

Procedure: 

  • Paint your clothespins using acrylic paint and let them dry.
  • Take Yarn and tape, stick the yarn on the wall, and cut off the excess. Make rows of these strings as much as you like.
  • Now using clothespins pin your pictures onto the yarn and it is finished.

3. Flag Banner

Things You Need:

  • Yarn
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Masking Tape
  • Glue Gun
  • Scissor
  • Triangle stencil or ruler

Procedure:

  • Print out a triangle template to help in cutting out the scrapbook paper into shape. Trace the triangle on the paper of your choice and start cutting. Repeat the process multiple times to get enough triangles for the banner.
  • Now take the desired length of yarn and taking the glue gun line the top part of the triangles and place the yarn on top. Repeat the process for all the triangles.
  • Use tape to tape it onto the wall and you are done.

4. DIY Party Banner

Things you need:

  • Adhesive letters or normal letters
  • Banner pennants
  • Glue gun
  • Gold Ribbon

Procedure:

  • Take fabric or paper pennants either premade or cut them out into shape from paper or fabric whichever is available easily. Cut holes in the top if you made them on the both ends at the top of each pennant.
  • Take alphabets premade or cut out letters from paper if you wish.
  • Lay out the pennants in position and start pasting the letters to them using a glue gun.
  • Let them dry and loop the holes using the gold ribbon. Tie the ribbon or knot it at the back of the pennant holes so they stay in position.
  • Make them for a specific function or just hang it as decoration.

5. Vinyl Record Banner

Things you need:

  • Vinyl Records
  • Command hooks or pins

Procedure:

  • Find 45s or 7 inch records, which are smaller and have a certain colour in between.
    The ones, which have the middle intact, are more preferred.
  • Depending on your choice, go either for rainbow spectrum or according to your colour scheme to make them more appealing.
  • Using command hooks or nails fix these records on the wall in a straight line and at even distances by measuring from the middle.
  • Once you have put the nails in an even distance place them on your wall to finish your banner.

6. DIY bohemian wall hanging

♯ STYLE A

Things you need:

  • Yarn in Different colours
  • Wooden dowel
  • Twine
  • Scissors

Procedure:

  • Measure how long you want your white yarn and take twice its length then cut it. Now take coloured yarn but keep them shorter than the white yarn with repeating the same process as above.
  • Line up the Colours as you want to see them on the dowel and place the yarn on the dowel by knotting it.
  • Attach the twine to hang it on the wall, cut off the excess.
  • Now to give it a proper v shape cut the yarn from the bottom to get the desired style and voila!

♯ STYLE B

Things you need:

  • A gold ring
  • Yarn In any Colour
  • Wooden Beads
  • Scissors

Procedure:

  • Measure and double up the yarn as the first style and knot it to the lower part of the ring.
  • Take wooden beads and decide the layout of the beads by placing them normally. Take some tape to cover the yarn ends to make the beads slide easily into the yarn.
  • Once all the beads are done cut the lower end of the wall hanging into shape in the V shape. The bohemian banner is ready to be hang.

7. Mexican Banner

Things you need:

  • Coloured tissue paper
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Ribbon

Procedure:

  • Fold tissue paper and cut out or just take coloured tissue paper already cut in squares.
  • Fold it twice in half and cut to make one end rounded. Fold the rounded edge and cut out a notch.
  • Unfold once and fold it in half width wise. Fold it diagonally and cut shapes along diagonal edge and then the other edge as well.
  • Upon unfolding, you will get squares of multiple patterns. Paste it on the ribbon and you can easily hang it on any wall or archway using tape.

8. DIY Chalkboard Banner

Things You Need:

  • Clipboard
  • Twine
  • Chalkboard paint
  • Chalk
  • Scissors
  • Sponge Brush
  • Pen
  • Hole puncher

Procedure:

  • Cut out the cardboard into three long sections. The long sections obtained after cutting, cut them again in half.
  • Using a Banner template trace lines on the cardboard to give it an appealing shape. Then cut out the triangle from the bottom. Do the same for getting multiple boards.
  • Start painting the boards with chalkboard paint avoiding any streaks. Apply two coats of paint.
  • Now punch two holes at the top corners so that the twine can pass through.
  • Just hang the banner on the wall. The best thing about using chalkboard paint is that the message is easily changeable.
