Paper quilling is a form of art that is done by cutting paper into long thin strips, then the paper strips are formed in different shapes by rolling and pinching the pieces, then adding glue to the shapes together and that will make very decorative art. Paper quilling is often used for decorating cards, gift boxes, gift bags, picture frames, or making 3D stand-alone art pieces, which will make everybody in wonder. One of the benefits of doing this is often the expansion of concentration. You can do this to calm your mind and deduct stress. Today you are going to make some of the important flower shapes which are required for quilling. So, follow the process, note the names, and Let’s begin!

How to Make Basic Quilling Flowers

Materials:

  1. Quilling pen.
  2. Border buddy.
  3. Circle sizer.
  4. Quilling strips.
  5. Craft Glue.

Procedure:

First flower shape-

  • Take a quilling strip and a quilling pen, roll the strip into the quilling pen.
  • Pull off the coil after rolling it.
  • Take a circle sizer, put the coil into a little bigger circle shape.
  • Apply glue at the end of the strip to properly secure it.
  • Take the coil, slowly bend it and fold it in half.
  • Apply glue on the middle of the fold, so that the two pints stick together
  • Apply glue on the outside of it, take a new paper quilling strip and bind it around the coil.
  • Apply glue on its end to stick it. It will look like a teardrop shape.
  • Follow this process, and make another five of this coil.
  • You will need one tight coil.
  • Take the quilling strip and the quilling pen, roll the strip into the quilling pen.
  • Pull off the coil after rolling it.
  • Take a circle sizer, put the coil into the smallest shape circle as it will be a tight coil.
  • Apply glue at the end of the strip to properly secure it.
  • Take all six teardrop coils and one tight coil, apply glue on the bottom of the teardrop shapes and stick them around the tight coil.
  • Your first flower shape will be done!

Second flower shape:

  • Take two different colour quilling strips, stick them together by applying glue at its ends.
  • Take a quilling strip and roll the strip from the colour you want inside and make a coil.
  • Take a circle sizer, put the coil into a little bigger circle shape.
  • Apply glue at the end of the strip to properly secure it.
  • Take the coil, hold the midpoint and pull it down and pinch on the opposite side, which will give you a teardrop shape.
  • Following this process, another five of these just make the shapes smaller than this teardrop.
  • Your second flower shape will be done!

Third flower shape:

  • Take three quilling strips and a quilling pen, roll all of the strips to make coils.
  • Take a circle sizer, put the coils in a bigger shape. The size of the three coils must be the same.
  • Apply glue at the end of the strips to properly secure them.
  • Take a coil, pinch both sides of it and make a marquis shape.
  • Take another coil, pinch both sides and give it a flat surface at the bottom.
  • Apply glue on the flat surface and stick the previous pieces together.
  • Do the same with the last coil.
  • After the shape is formed, apply glue on the outer part of these coils.
  • Take a different colour strip, bind around it.
  • Put glue on its end to secure it.
  • Following these steps, make another five of these.
  • Your third flower shape will be done!

Forth flower shape:

  • Take a circle-shaped border buddy and a strip, apply glue on the end of the strip and stick it to the first step of the border buddy and roll it.
  • Take another strip, roll the strip on the fifth step of the border buddy.
  • Put glue on both strips end to secure them.
  • Pull them out from the border buddy.
  • Take the circles, pinch both aside.
  • Apply glue in the bottom of the smaller part and place it on the bigger part.
  • Now you will need a wave scroll.
  • Take a quilling strip and a quilling pin, roll from the one side of the strip and release that halfway.
  • Hold the strip in the middle and quil again, stop it after reaching the previous roll and release it.
  • Repeat these steps until the whole strip ends.
  • Put the scroll on the hollow of the upper previous shape.
  • Take another colour strip and make a wave scroll again.
  • Put this scroll on the lower hollow part of the shape.
  • Follow this process and make another five of these petals.
  • Apply glue and stick them next to each other.
  • Make a tight coil.
  • Put the coil in the middle of the flower shape.
  • Your fourth flower shape will be done!
