Making flower using felt and craft wire is a perfect spring craft. You can use it to decorate, to give, and to do many things. All the things that’ll be required to make this flower garland will be in your home. So take them, collect them and let’s get started.
Things you’ll be required:
- Felt
- Craft wire
- Beads
- Twine
- Hot glue gun
Instructions
Step 1- Take the craft wire and form a ring by winding the wire 5-6 times. The size of the ring would be depending on how large you want it to be. Make the circle nice and sturdy. Once the ring is ready, coil the wire around the ring, then cut off the extra wire. Wrap the ring with twine but you can use anything to wrap it. The wrapping of the ring should be even whether it’s twine or any other material. After reaching the end, tie a knot and cut off the extra twine.
Step 2- Take a felt and cut out a small piece of it as shown in the picture of this step. This felt will become the base piece where the flowers will be placed. Paste the felt piece on the ring any side of the ring but make sure you glue the sides of the felt with the ring band nicely.
Step 3- Cut a felt strip (6 x 1.5 inches). Also cut 6-7 petal shapes along any side of the felt strip.
Step 4- Prepare needle and thread. Then, stitch the straight side of the felt, all the way to the other end. Once you reach the other end, push the felt towards the closed end of the thread to make a fringed pattern.
Step 5- Tie the both ends of the thread (closed and open) to secure the fringes of the felt.
Step 6- Make more and more flowers. You can make simple spiral roses and add the bead at the center. Now, cut the leaf shapes from green coloured felt fabrics.
Step 7- Make as many flowers and leaves for the garland as many as you want. When you’re done making them, simply put them on the base piece of the ring. Create a nice and sound pattern with leaves and flowers.
(Note: Use the hot glue to paste the flowers to the ring.)
You can also use different coloured fabrics and can create different types of flowers for more variations in design of the flower garland.
